TRACEY MARDON - BIOGRAPHY & ACHIEVEMENTS -
Tracey was born in Regina, Saskatchewan. She lived most of her life on the West Coast and transferred back to the Prairies with her husband and two sons seven years ago. She found that the Prairie pull is hard to escape and enjoys the sunny winter days and lack of rain.
Tracey was craft painting when a friend introduced her to Pro’s Art School four years ago and she found something that caught her passion. A trip to New York with the painting school inspired her to go from painting once a week to as often as possible. Her post secondary education was in Fashion Design and she enjoyed finding that many of the concepts overlap. She looks forward to many more years of exploring the medium.
Tracey and her husband have traveled in both Europe and Asia and she now finds inspiration for some of her paintings from those travels.
Tracey is interested in landscapes, streetscapes, portraits, animal portraiture and still life. She has done several animal portraits for commission. These hang in homes from Toronto to Vancouver. Tracey lists a wide variety of artists as those who inspire her. Some of these include: Mary Cassatt, Sargent, William Merritt Chase, Velasquez. She states, "I am in awe when I study their brushstrokes".
To date she has done numerous weekend workshops at Pro's Art School as well as attending workshops at Gibsons School of the Arts in the summer and Leading Edge Workshops in Calgary. She presently paints four times a week at Pro's Art School.
