Rena Fraser

RENA FRASER - BIOGRAPHY & ACHIEVEMENTS - I have been expressing myself in some artistic medium or another since I was very young. My mother taught me to work with copper and wood and by the time I was seven, I was making souvenirs out of seashells and driftwood for tourists visiting my home of Vancouver Island during the summer months. In the spring of 2002, I started studying the Masters under the guidance of Gene Prokop, in Edmonton Alberta, Canada and have enjoyed learning a great deal about the techniques that have made the works of John Constable, Monet, and Waterhouse, last through time always giving the viewer cause for pause.

It has recently occurred to me just how much growing up by the ocean has truly impacted my work, as the vast majority of my paintings include water while I continue to be fascinated by the subjects ever changing challenges in representing it’s mysterious beauty.
