NANCY SORENSEN - BIOGRAPHY & ACHIEVEMENTS:
Nancy Sorensen was born in Edmonton, Alberta in 1958. She graduated from the U of A with a B.Ed in 1980 and taught in the school system for 10 years. Living in Edmonton with her family, she presently works part time with her husband in their construction company.
Having a life long interest in art & painting, Nancy joined the Pro’s Art Gallery in Edmonton in 2002. She has studied with well known artists Robert Johnson, Brian Atyeo & Gregg Kreutz. Traveling to New York, Europe and Asia to learn from the great masters has also enhanced Nancy’s paintings.
Nancy now specializes in painting “Favorite Places” for her clients. It may be the lake, the mountains or a special holiday destination. Nancy enjoys bringing to life a favorite place in an original oil or acrylic of your choice.
Using personal photographs or natures inspiration, Nancy begins each painting with a thin layer of oil or acrylic. Using large bristle brushes, palette knives, cloth and even her hands, several more layers are applied to build depth and richness to the painting to achieve the desired result.
