Biography for Larry Dufresne: Larry Dufresne has only been painting for just six years; however he was schooled in the ways of the great masters under the tutelage of well-known artist and teacher, Gene Prokop, at Pro Art School in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. After a 31 year career in education as a teacher and athletics coach, Larry yearned for the chance to hone his innermost interests, in art, music and military collecting. Larry’s paintings are eclectic and exhibit a unique painting style. His painting repertoire includes landscapes, European street scenes, portraits, animals, aircraft, still- life and musicians. Larry’s eclectic pursuit for subjects in his painting allows him to experiment and find in his heart what is most satisfying and appealing to others. It’s a risk, but one he relishes in. Larry has traveled to Europe, spending time in France, Germany, Holland, Czech Republic and Hungary. Art tours to Paris and New York with Pro Art School has been a source of inspiration and knowledge for Larry. Larry’s paintings now hang in several homes in Canada and Europe. Also Larry’s paintings are displayed in restaurants and coffee houses in the Edmonton area. Two of Larry’s paintings recently graced the cover of a local musician’s CD. An athletic painting also hangs in the alumni lounge located in the University of Alberta’s (Canada) new athletic complex, Foote Field. It makes one feel great inside, making that connection with someone with your work, he says.
