The Three Disciples

On a wet and rainy day while travelling to Vancouver Island by ferry, the sky began to clear and the sunlight shone down on three Harley motorcycles. Their vibrant colors and contrasting shiny chrome caught my eye and created an interesting picture. Later on while working on this painting, I found that I could draw a parallel between the three bikes and three of Jesus’ disciples. I was reminded of the story in the bible when John, Paul and Barnabas set sail to the neighbouring islands around Greece to teach the gospel. For me these bikes and the trip across the water, reminded me of the disciples sense of freedom and adventure and their rebel spirit.
