Carol Chapman

Carol Chapman - Biography & Achievements - This artist’s style of painting resembles the old master’s being realistic and often dramatic in values of dark and light. She particularly admires the style of “modern masters” from the Art Students League of New York – such as David Leffel. Carol’s paintings are categorized as landscapes, portraits, still life, and spiritual themes. She explains that when she hears truth, and/or spiritual principles, visual images always spring to her mind. Due to a long professional psychology career and her faith, she possesses a deep reservoir of such material upon which to draw. Her most compelling subjects are spiritual in nature. Even her portraits show people within environments suggesting some aspect of their spiritual nature. Her goal as an artist is to provoke emotion through beauty and spiritual imagery.

Her formal art training started seven years ago through University of Alberta Extension School and a wide variety of art workshops. Her training continues under the instruction of Gene Prokop with Pro’s Art School. She will have her first “one-man” show this May in Edmonton, Alberta. Carol’s paintings have found their way into private collections in France, New York, Virginia, Tennessee, Alaska, Ontario, British Columbia, and Alberta (including the airline corporate offices of West Jet in Calgary.) Recently she completed a promotional painting for the Girls and Boys Club of Canada. Carol welcomes commissions: completing oil paintings for 50th anniversaries, graduations, prizewinning animals, hockey scenes, children, religious subjects, etc.
