BERNICE NOWICKI - BIOGRAPHY & ACHIEVEMENTS: Bernice was born and raised in Lavoy, Alberta. She always had a desire to paint but waited until her retirement years. Previously, she worked in ceramics, fibre arts, and weaving. Bernice started painting in acrylics and taking classes at local studios. She later dabbled in Genesis under the direction of Marie Neys. In November 2007, Marie encouraged her to take classes in oil at Pro’s Art Studio. Taking a weekly class, she has grown in her skills under the guidance of Gene Prokop. She has also attended workshops offered by the school. In 2009, Bernice’s “White Orchid” painting received first prize at the Orchid Society Art Competition. Bernice enjoys her class time and believes she will always be a student in a learning phase.
