Retta Rushworth

RETTA RUSHWORTH - BIOGRAPHY & ACHIEVEMENTS: Retta Rushworth started painting in her home town of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario in her late teens. She graduated from Sault College of Applied Arts and Technology as an Electronic Engineering Technician and took drawing and painting classes in the evening while working at her job as a technician during the day.
Retta married her best friend from college and they moved to Edmonton. As their family grew, she chose to set aside her tools and paintbrushes to raise their three daughters.
With their daughters starting their own life journeys, Retta found
herself with the time to pursue her artwork again. She now studies at Pro’s Art Studio in Edmonton, Alberta under the expert tutelage of Gene Prokop and the watchful eye of instructor Anne Waeland
and enjoys the supportive and social atmosphere of the studio. While Retta enjoys doing still life and
portraits, her true passion is in painting landscapes. “I want the viewer to feel the sun and the wind, hear the water, sense the anticipation of nature.”
