PEONIES: The inspiration behind this painting came quite simply on a beautiful summer day after picking a bunch of white peonies from the garden. After arranging the flowers in a vase and placing them in her studio, Ann Waeland studied them and noted that the light shining through the window created beatiful colors of light, while casting deeper colors of the rainbow on the shade side. She immediately reached for a blank canvas with brush in hand, worked quickly to capture the freshness, passion & soul of the beautiful, white peonies.
