Biography of Ann Waeland
Ann Waeland was born in England and came from a very artistic family. Ann's father was an artist and she studied with him at an early age. While living in England she was fortunate to study the "Masters" at the Tate Gallery and the Royal Academy
Her first love was in Floral Design and Floristry. She studiedd in London at the Constance Spry Academy of Floristry. She also chaired a 400 member Floral Society. Some of her duties entailed teaching, demonstrating and organizing shows.
Ann studied at the Hartley School of Cake Design in London. One of her wedding cake designs was featured at the prestigious Harrod's Store in London, England.
After moving to Canada in the 1970's, Ann felt the need to broaden her talents, and brush in hand, fell in love with oil painting. Ann is totally committed to her art, studying privately. She now paints with a group of artists under the direction of Gene Prokop. Ann also co-teaches classes with Loraine Ure at Pro's Art School, Studio & Gallery.
Ann is currently working on commissions from England, United States & Canada covering the Global Challenge "Around the World Yacht Race." Turning her brush to yachts in rough seas is a real challenge and great change from the paintings that she has completed using her love of gardens and peaceful pastimes!
Commissions from the past have come from England, France, Australia & Canada. Ann is happiest when absorbed within her paintings.
